NERDS RULE INC continues to prepare young people for these careers, which require more than classroom learning; it requires real-world experiences, mentorship, and community partnerships.

Recently, our work to inspire future STEM leaders was recognized by ABC 10News San Diego, highlighting the impact of our STEM initiatives and our growing partnership with the Fleet Science Center. This recognition reflects the dedication of our students, educators, and partners who are working together to create pathways into STEM careers.

Creating Pathways into STEM

Building a career in STEM begins with curiosity. Our STEM projects are designed to spark that curiosity by engaging students in hands-on learning experiences. Rather than simply reading about science or technology, students actively experiment, design solutions, and collaborate on real-world challenges.

Through these projects, students develop critical skills such as:

  • Problem-solving and analytical thinking

  • Collaboration and teamwork

  • Creativity and innovation

  • Confidence in applying scientific concepts

These experiences help students see themselves as future engineers, scientists, programmers, and innovators.

A Powerful Partnership with the Fleet Science Center

Our partnership with the Fleet Science Center plays a key role in expanding opportunities for our students. The Fleet is dedicated to connecting communities with the power of science through interactive programs, educational initiatives, and partnerships across San Diego County.

Working together, we are able to bring exciting STEM learning opportunities directly to students. Through hands-on activities, mentorship, and exposure to real STEM professionals, students gain insight into the many career paths available in science and technology.

Programs and initiatives like these are important because STEM fields continue to grow rapidly, offering some of the most in-demand and high-paying careers in today’s workforce. At the same time, many young people—especially those from underrepresented communities—need greater access to STEM learning experiences to pursue these opportunities.

Highlighted by ABC 10News

The spotlight from ABC 10News San Diego helped share our story with the broader community. The feature highlighted how our students are engaging in STEM projects and how our collaboration with the Fleet Science Center is helping build real pathways into STEM careers.

Media recognition like this not only celebrates the hard work of our students but also raises awareness about the importance of investing in STEM education. It shows what is possible when schools, nonprofits, and community partners work together to support the next generation of innovators.

Inspiring the Future

Our goal goes beyond completing a single project—we are building a culture where students see STEM as an exciting and achievable career path. Every experiment, design challenge, and collaboration brings students one step closer to discovering their potential.

By combining hands-on learning, strong community partnerships, and opportunities for real-world exploration, we are helping students imagine themselves as future scientists, engineers, and technology leaders. And as our work continues to grow, we look forward to inspiring even more young people to pursue careers in STEM and shape the future of innovation.
