Across schools and communities, young people are searching for purpose, belonging, and opportunities to lead. The NERDS RULE INC. Ambassador Project was created to meet that need, empowering youth to discover their voice, develop leadership skills, and become positive changemakers in their schools and communities.
Founded by Dr. Tristaca McCray, the Ambassador Project has grown from a small after-school initiative into a globally recognized youth leadership program. Through mentorship, service, and hands-on leadership development, the program inspires the next generation to lead with compassion, innovation, and purpose.
How the Ambassador Project Began
The Ambassador Project began with a simple but powerful idea: young people can change the world when they are given the tools to lead. While attending a leadership program at the University of San Diego, Dr. McCray was also working with students in an after-school program. During that time, she noticed that many young people had incredible potential but lacked mentorship, confidence, and opportunities to develop leadership skills.
Instead of waiting for change, she created a program that would empower students directly. What started as a small leadership initiative quickly evolved into the NERDS RULE INC. Ambassador Project, a program designed to help youth, teens, and young adults become leaders in their schools, neighborhoods, and future careers.
Today, the program is part of the broader work of NERDS RULE INC., a nonprofit with consultative recognition through the United Nations Economic and Social Council, highlighting its global impact on youth empowerment, education, and mental health advocacy.
Leadership in Schools and Communities
The Ambassador Project works directly with schools, after-school programs, and community organizations to build leadership pipelines for young people. Students who participate gain opportunities to:
Develop leadership and communication skills
Participate in community service and advocacy
Promote kindness, mental health awareness, and anti-bullying initiatives
Learn teamwork, confidence, and problem-solving
Become role models within their schools and communities
Ambassadors serve as youth leaders who inspire others, helping create safe spaces where students can discover their identity, build confidence, and support one another.
By empowering youth at an early age, the program helps build a generation that is not only academically prepared but also emotionally intelligent, compassionate, and socially responsible.
A Global Movement of Youth Leadership
What began as a local effort has grown into an initiative recognized on a global stage. Through the work of NERDS RULE INC., the Ambassador Project reflects values aligned with global education, leadership, and kindness initiatives promoted by organizations such as the United Nations.
Students who become ambassadors are not just leaders in their schools—they are part of a global network of young innovators, advocates, and changemakers who believe in using their voice to make a difference.
How Students Can Become Ambassadors
Becoming a NERDS RULE INC. Ambassador is an opportunity for students who want to lead, serve, and inspire others.
